Lunch with … Chris Shorter, Prince William County Executive

Tuesday, June 25

ShorterLunchWeb
NAIOP Prince William Government Relations Subcommitte Chair Jonelle Cameron fields questions for Prince William County Executive Shorter.

Program

On June 25, NAIOP Northern Virginia will host a Lunch with … Chris Shorter, County Executive of Prince William County. He has served in his position for approximately fifteen months and it has been busy. In that time the County completed its Comprehensive Plan Update, adopted the Digital Gateway and continues to work on policies related to data centers. During this same period, elections in 2023 put in place three new members of the Board of County Supervisors, including a new Chair.

Prior to joining Prince William County, Shorter worked most recently as Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Baltimore. As the first CAO, he was tasked with transforming the city’s government structure. This included developing a strategic plan, reforming procurement processes and taking over the handling of municipal services from the Mayor, in a city where the Mayor served as the chief executive. He has also held government administrative positions in Austin, Texas and the District of Columbia.

We welcome the opportunity to hear from County Executive Shorter about the direction for the county as it plans for the future; how he views the balance between continued growth in the commercial and residential sectors; and how the County plan to address the challenges of affordable housing, transportation, and data center and industrial growth.

Lunch with … Loudoun Chair Phyllis Randall

Thursday June, 13

RandallLunch2024Web
Loudoun County Board Chair Phyllis Randall talks with NAIOP members about top issues and priorities for the County.

Program

Loudoun County continues to grow at a rapid pace as it embraces investments in residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use projects. In 2022, Loudoun welcomed the Silver Line METRO service with four stations. And now, with an updated Comprehensive Plan in place and a newly minted Zoning Ordinance, the County is ready for the next decade. At the same time, the County is dealing with the pressures of this change, such as land use planning for data centers and finding ways to put affordable housing in place.

Please join NAIOP Northern Virginia as we host a Lunch with ... Phyllis Randall, Chair of Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. First elected, Chair in November of 2015, she was re-elected in 2019 and 2023. As Chair she oversees the policies and plans for one of the fastest growing and highest median household income counties in the Commonwealth. In addition, she holds a variety of board positions on regional organizations.

We last had a one-on-one with Chair Randall in 2016, her first year on the Board. As Chair Randall settles in to her third term, this is a great opportunity to hear her thoughts and plans for the County as it goes forward. And, a chance to talk with her about NAIOP and the issues we are following in the County.
